As part of a deal with Hutchison, Orange GSM mobile customers will be transferred to Optus. This will ensure that their mobile service continues uninterrupted. Optus will contact all Orange GSM customers in the near future to discuss their transfer to Optus. Until then, Hutchison will assist Optus by continuing to service customers as normal.
Here are answers to the most likely customer questions.
How do I know if I am an Orange GSM mobile customer?
If your mobile phone screen displays 'yes Optus' or 'Optus' you are a GSM mobile customer. Any mobile phone screen that displays 'Orange' is not a GSM customer and will not be affected by this change.
What do I need to do now?
Nothing. Optus will contact all customers in the near future to discuss their options.
Will my GSM mobile number change?
No. Your mobile phone number will not change as a result of the transfer.
What happens to my current contract and rate plan?
For the present, you will continue to benefit from the contract and rates you are currently signed-up to, until you transfer to an Optus plan. Depending on the Optus plan selected, there may be changes to your mobile contract.
Will my value added GSM services change?
No, the following services will not change until you switch to an Optus rate plan: voicemail, SMS, diversions, international roaming, WAP, Info2you, Orange messenger, fax mail, fax & data and international calling. Optus offers these services on most rate plans and we're sure you'll be satisfied with the service.
From now on, who will I receive bills from?
You will continue to receive bills from Orange until you switch to an Optus rate plan, and you should continue to pay those bills to Orange. Following this, your bills will be sent by Optus.
What happens if I have a problem with my phone?
Orange will continue to handle these enquiries on 133 488 until you switch your plan to Optus.
Do I have a choice?
Everybody has a choice in choosing a mobile provider. You will need to check the terms and conditions of your existing Orange contract to determine what conditions apply to any change of provider.
What do I do if I want to move to Optus now?
