The Premier of South Australia, The Hon John Olsen, officially opened Cable & Wireless Optus' new state-of-the-art call centre in Adelaide today.
Building on the success of the existing call centre in Adelaide's Technology Park, the new centre located in North Terrace, has created 450 new jobs. This brings the total number of Cable & Wireless Optus employees in South Australia to over 1,000.
"Adelaide was the logical choice for the new call centre because of the success of the Technology Park call centre and the exceptional support Optus has received from the State Government," said Norman Gillespie, Deputy Chief Executive, Cable & Wireless Optus.
"Committed, diligent and caring staff are the backbone of a successful call centre, and the people of Adelaide have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the highest levels of customer service," said Mr Gillespie.
The North Terrace call centre will provide customer service for national mobile telephony and sales support services for Optus mobile, long distance and dial-up internet.
"The people of South Australia and the State Government have been very supportive of Optus. We believe the opening of this call centre will further strengthen these relationships," said Mr Gillespie.
