Optus adds to top management team
06 Oct 2000

Cable & Wireless Optus today announced that Sam Mostyn will join the company as Director, Human Resources and Corporate Development and the present incumbent in that role, Chris Hancock, will assume the position of Managing Director, Data & Business Services.

The Chief Executive of Cable & Wireless Optus, Mr Chris Anderson, said that he was delighted that two such able executives were to take on new roles in the company.

"Chris Hancock has been with Optus for three years and has a deep knowledge of the business. That knowledge - and the operational experience he has amassed during other periods of his career at the Seven Network and Vodafone - makes him the stand out candidate to run our rapidly growing Data & Business Services division.

"Sam Mostyn also brings deep experience to her role, having most recently been Director, Human Resources for the worldwide Cable & Wireless plc group. Prior to that time she held senior executive roles at Optus and before that in Prime Minister Keating's Office."

Mr Anderson said that Chris Hancock would replace Stephen Beynon, who was returning to the United Kingdom to take up a business opportunity in the wholesale IP industry.

"Stephen has made a major contribution to Optus over the last three years and we are sorry to see him go. However, Optus is a company with well developed succession plans, as today's appointments demonstrate.

"Cable & Wireless Optus is enjoying dramatic growth - and the success we have enjoyed in Data & Business Services is a key part of that. Today's appointments position us to continue and build on that growth and success."
