Cable & Wireless Optus has again taken market share from its competitors for the eight successive quarter.
In industry figures released today, Optus gained 38 per cent of total mobile market net additions in the June quarter, well above its percentage of market share. This is an increase of 23 per cent from the March quarter figures.
Telstra's market share dropped during this period to 48.2 per cent.
Paul O'Sullivan, Managing Director Mobile, Cable & Wireless Optus said that this result was an outstanding achievement taking Optus' market share to 33.4 per cent.
"These results are a strong endorsement of our growing position as Australia's mobile leader," Mr O'Sullivan said.
"Two years ago we had mobile customer numbers that were half those of Telstra.
"Today, through our challenger brand marketing, we have grown to 70 per cent of their size in a period of extraordinary growth," he said.
"This is another outstanding quarter for Optus Mobile. Moving forward we expect growth to continue although competition will be harder," Mr O'Sullivan said.
