Cable & Wireless Optus today announced it would further enhance the head office functions of its Melbourne office by establishing the position of Director, Strategy and Policy Development in Melbourne.

Announcing the move, Chris Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Cable & Wireless Optus, said that Peter George, is addition to his key corporate role in the strategy area, would also be responsible for developing business opportunities with Melbourne organisations, and other corporate functions with a Melbourne focus.

"While Cable & Wireless Optus has a number of Victorian Government Departments and companies on our client list, and our Victorian local, long distance and mobile customer base is growing strongly, we are not as strong in Melbourne as we would like," Mr Anderson said.

Mr Anderson explained that Mr George's appointment continued the trend of ensuring senior management roles for Cable & Wireless Optus were not geographically restricted, but were based wherever customer needs dictated.

Mr George's appointment to Melbourne in effective from today.
