Cable & Wireless Optus internet wholesale customers are set to benefit from increased capacity between Australia and Singapore.
An additional 4 Mbps link will be established under the Australia-Singapore IT Co-operation Memorandum of Understanding signed today by the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Tim Fischer and the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr Lee Hsien Loong.
Cable & Wireless Optus will integrate the Singapore-Australia link into its Spinnaker Pacific Access initiative. This initiative provides internet wholesale customers with a 30% discount off the normal international rates for internet traffic between Australia and Singapore.
"We anticipate that this initiative will lead to greater internet based co-operation between our two countries," said Stephen Beynon, Director of Industry Services at Cable & Wireless Optus.
"It will also enhance the internet connections available within Cable & Wireless worldwide network," Mr Beynon commented.
